From beloved author Heather Buchta comes a juicy, mind-twisting thriller about football, romance, and the cost of playing the game.
In Texas, football is life. That's especially true for Finn Geringer, the new star on East Pay's high school football team, and his quietly brilliant girlfriend, Meg. While some people are warming up to Finn-including his cheerleader cousin Brit who's thrilled he's joined the team-not everyone is so excited. Benched player Spencer, for example, is wary of Finn, and warns him that things here are not what they seem.
Indeed, life at East Pay is a little odd...rival football players are suddenly dropping like flies, strange old men are eavesdropping on Meg's diner conversations, threats are tossed at Brit, and coaches are whispering in the wings. Is this all just typical Texas football fodder, or is something more sinister at work here?
As Meg, Finn, Brit, and Spencer fall deeper into a deadly football conspiracy, their relationships are tested and their own shocking secrets revealed. For there's blood on their hands, and on the field. Heather Buchta is a writer whose debut novel, Beyond the Break, came out in 2020 and was nominated for the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Young Adult Fiction of 2020.
