From Lambda Literary Award finalist Linsey Miller comes this thrilling stand-alone fantasy about the lengths we'll go to get ahead-an incredibly fresh, twisty love letter to dark academia...with a body count.
There is only one school worth graduating from, and it creates as many magicians as it does graves. Every year, the premier magic school on the continent offers an honors class to their thirteen best students, and every year, those students have only one assignment: Kill the professor. If they succeed, their student debt is cleared. But if the professor is still alive by the end of the school year, all of them fail and their lives are forfeit. The students can use anything to accomplish their assignment, from magic to hired help, but only one out of every two classes makes it to graduation.
Because every year, a new devil is summoned to teach the class, and when a student's assassination attempt fails, the devil gets to kill them.
Fabian Galloway isn't worried, though-he's the top student in his class, and he knows he can count on his best friends, Credence and Euphemia, to help his plan go smoothly.
But dealing with the devil is no easy task, and with more than their lives at stake, Fabian, Credence, and Euphemia must use every asset they have to survive-even if that means others die in the process.
