About

The year is 2137. For two centuries, the Western Hemisphere has lived in complete isolation-protected by a law forbidding anyone from crossing the thirtieth meridian.

Lieutenant Jefferson Turck, an officer in the navy of the Pan-American Federation, has spent his life believing that Europe no longer matters. After generations of war, disease, and political collapse, the Eastern Hemisphere has been abandoned to history.

Then a mechanical failure sends Turck's aero-submarine across the forbidden boundary.

Stranded far beyond the limits of the civilized world, Turck and his companions discover that Europe has not vanished. It has descended into a brutal wilderness where the ruins of once-great cities stand beside primitive kingdoms, dangerous beasts, and warring factions struggling for control.

As Turck journeys deeper into the lost continent, he encounters captivity, rebellion, unexpected allies, and Victory-a courageous young woman whose identity may connect her to Europe's forgotten past. To survive and find a way home, he must navigate a world shaped by centuries of violence while questioning the isolationist beliefs he once accepted without doubt.

Originally published as *Beyond Thirty*, Edgar Rice Burroughs's *The Lost Continent* combines post-apocalyptic science fiction, lost-world adventure, futuristic technology, romance, and pulp-era action in a startling vision of civilization after global war.

This historical work reflects some of the language, assumptions, and social attitudes of the era in which it was written.

Narrated by Paul Silver.
