It started with a small act of faith in a time of division and uncertainty.
Days after the 2025 US presidential inauguration, Sarah L. Sanderson emailed a simple invitation to family and friends. Join me in prayer for our nation. Her idea was straightforward: to stand outside the White House one Saturday a month and pray for justice. Within days, responses poured in from across the country and beyond. What began as a solitary act of intercession became a movement of hope.
Without Ceasing is a prayer guide and work manual for those longing to see God's kingdom break into our world. Drawing from Scripture, contemporary social reformers, and the experiences of a growing prayer community, this book reimagines prayer as engagement-a bold act of prophetic imagination and collaboration with God.
In the book of Jeremiah, God commands the people exiled in Babylon to "seek the peace and prosperity of the city and pray to the Lord for it." That call echoes today. For Christians burdened by the state of the world yet unsure how to respond, Without Ceasing offers a way forward: pray with hope, work with courage, and trust that prayer makes a difference. This book equips listeners to seek the welfare of their communities, whether in a protest march, a community organizing campaign, a prayer closet-or praying outside the White House.
