In the outskirts of Virginia's countryside, women are found murdered in the most grotesque way. The FBI is called in but stands handcuffed. A serial killer is out there and his crimes are becoming more and more frequent. They know there is only one agent that is good enough to solve this case: Special Agent Riley Paige. Riley himself is on paid leave and is recovering from the clash with the latest serial killer. She is fragile and the FBI is unwilling to interfere with her. Nevertheless, Riley, who is tamped with his own demons, chooses to take on the case.
