"The study of the sacred page, is as it were, the soul of sacred theology" (Dei Verbum, 24). This teaching from Vatican II emphasizes the importance of studying the Scriptures. Many people study the Bible individually but most have not examined the careful and beautiful composition of the Lectionary for Mass.
