Whisked away by a dazzling green-and-gold omnibus, spirited Matilda lands in Green Land-a topsy‑turvy kingdom where a caged, magical Cockatoucan cackles chaos into being. Every laugh flips the world: ministers shrink into schoolboys, shop signs swap their wares, and poor Pridmore, Matilda's strict nurse, becomes an Automatic Nagging Machine. With the King at his wits' end and a needle‑slim princess who can't help tickling the bird, it's up to quick‑thinking Matilda to restore order. Teaming with a newly well‑fed, warm‑hearted princess, she hatches a brilliant plan to make the Cockatoucan laugh on the wrong side of its beak-and break the spell for good. Greg Cooper's lively, character‑rich narration brings E. Nesbit's wit, warmth, and wonder to sparkling life, from royal banquets to rose‑scented gardens and riotous magical mishaps. A buoyant, bite‑sized adventure perfect for family listening, bedtime escapes, and nostalgia‑seekers alike, this timeless tale celebrates courage, kindness, and the cleverness of a child who won't give up when everything turns upside down.
