At thirty-six, Katie Cope's life hasn't turned out the way she planned. Back in college she had big dreams, but then her best friend disappeared.
Claire was driving home for Thanksgiving with her mom. Days later, her abandoned car was found at a trailhead in the Rockies, but she was never seen again. That was the moment Katie gave up her big dreams and settled for a quiet life.
Now Katie's husband Howard has sold his business for more money than they ever dreamed. She's found a beautiful new housing development in the breathtaking wilderness of the Colorado mountains. It's just the fresh start we need, she tells him.
But that's a lie. Katie hasn't told Howard that she's looking into a disturbing connection between their new dream home and a long line of missing girls with eerie similarities to Claire's disappearance . . .
And now Katie is alone in their new house and there are strange noises at night. And footprints in the snow leading right to their back door . . .
Katie has played the quiet wife for far too long. She's desperate to find out the truth, but has she gone too far? J.M.
