Thousands of people attempt to hike this rugged footpath, America's oldest long-distance trail, each year. Few succeed but all are changed. After the loss of a lifelong friend, three young men set out to hike the Appalachian Trail in his honor in 2007. It was a dream – a mission, really – that they all hoped to share.
