Set in the futuristic city where technology is approximately 20 years ahead of the rest of the world and taking up roughly 1/4 of Japan is Akina City. As if that weren't something out of the ordinary, the scientists there had discovered what is considered to be "God's gift to humanity"; a protein named "Laminin". This special protein, much like Akina City, holds many secrets as well as untapped potential. For when Laminin is activated in the human body, it grants the person an ability, such as pyrokinesis or flight. Upon this discovery, the Japanese government created a level system to determine how much power a Laminin user has; with Level 1 being the weakest to Level 7 being the strongest one can become. They also established three categories that people were placed into depending on what their ability was: Scientist-Those of the Reality, Magist-Those of the Mind, and Spiritualist-Those of the Heart and Dreams. Then comes 16 year old Hikaru Shizuka, who has been accepted into Hoshino Academy: a prestigious high school with a heavy focus on furthering the development of the abilities of its students. There's only one problem: Hikaru Shizuka is a Level 0. Having no power to call his own and being bullied most of his life, Hikaru hopes that his acceptance into Hoshino Academy and trying his best will make things change for good. And after meeting the captivating Mika Haruki and a mysterious girl with danger following her, he may just get his wish...but will he regret it? Join Hikaru as he trains to become stronger to protect those close to him, attempts to discover the secrets of Laminin, and making both friends and enemies along the way. With science, magic, and spirituality bursting at the seams, life is a journey unlike any other-especially when living in a city that's far from normal.
