About
After Amba is a tale about how a woman's dark family past shapes her relationships, her love and sexuality. The story of Amba's life, when uncovered by another woman, many years later, profoundly shapes her own life.
Travel and fashion writer Amba Atha's life spans the first half of the twentieth century, its wars and excesses. As 'a New Woman' Amba flouts mores, climbs barriers and pushes boundaries. Then she dies in a mid-air collision.
Seventy years later, her brother Andrew hires a young research librarian, Frasey Fisher, to bring order to Amba's archive. Frasey becomes captivated, possibly possessed, by her subject. Frasey is drawn into a love triangle that transcends class, time and death.
