The battle for her life began long before she knew there was a war.
Zadiel has watched over Kathleen since the day she was born.
He has seen the prayers that protected her, the choices that opened doors, and the darkness waiting for every opportunity to slip through them. He has stood beside her through moments she thought she faced alone, watching unseen enemies turn fear into anxiety, pain into isolation, and shame into a voice that sounds frighteningly like her own.
He knows the truth.
Kathleen doesn't.
At fourteen, she has no idea a war is being fought around her.
At sixteen, her world is altered in a way she never expected. An unexpected loss pushes her into a battle she isn't fully aware she's in. She only knows that something inside her is becoming harder to carry. The lies are getting louder. The darkness is getting heavier. She feels alone even when surrounded by people who love her, and the God she has heard about her entire life has never felt more distant.
Zadiel would tell her the truth if he could.
But Heaven does not force what love requires us to choose.
Then Kathleen meets Lydia.
Where darkness has spent years teaching Kathleen to withdraw, Lydia simply refuses to let her disappear. Her friendship offers something Kathleen has almost forgotten how to recognize: hope. Through Lydia, the persistent prayers of her grandmother Ruth, and a series of moments she cannot quite explain, Kathleen begins to wonder whether the God she has kept at a distance might have been closer than she realized all along.
And the darkness notices.
As Kathleen takes hesitant steps toward a faith she must choose for herself, the unseen battle surrounding her intensifies. The forces that have spent years whispering into her pain are not willing to surrender their influence quietly.
Because this battle has never been only about making one girl afraid.
It is about keeping her from discovering the truth.
That she is seen.
That she is loved.
That she has a purpose.
That she is called.
And something in the darkness seems determined to make sure she never understands what that calling means.
Told through the eyes of the guardian angel assigned to protect her, Called and Followed is a Christian supernatural novel that pulls back the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds to explore spiritual warfare, free will, prayer, identity, grief, and the quiet power of choosing which voice to believe.
For readers who have ever wondered whether their prayers matter, whether the unseen battle is real, or whether God could possibly have a purpose for someone like them, Kathleen's story offers a reminder:
You might be followed, but you are also called.
