High school is a playground of secrets where every smile hides a story and every move is a game of charades.
Meet Madison Santana, a popular cheerleader and gifted violinist who decided to trade in her pom-poms for oversized nerdy glasses and plaid skirts in a desperate attempt to blend in as a nerd at her new school. She wants to escape the pressures of popularity that broke her heart at her last school. But little does Madison know-she is not the only one playing a part.
Josh, the captain of the basketball team, is hiding his own identity and pretending to be a nerd to get close to Madison, the new girl who captured his heart the moment she asked him to help her find a class.
Meanwhile, Kevin, another star basketball player and Josh's best friend, seems dedicated to his girlfriend, Kai, projecting the image of a perfect couple. However, Kevin has a secret: he still thinks about Melody, the girl he shared his first kiss with. Now that Melody is back at school and not saying a word to Kevin, it's only a matter of time before all these worlds collide.
As stakes escalate and charades intensify, secrets unravel, true identities are discovered, friendships are challenged and tested, and hearts are broken.
Will Madison survive her secret identity as a nerd? Can Josh keep fooling Madison long enough to impress her? Will Kevin confess his true feelings to Kai? Will Melody let Kevin know she is back at school?
All these questions and more will be revealed.
Charades is the thrilling first book of a four-book series called The Backpack Series that will keep you engaged, guessing, and wanting more.
