Some houses remember what happened inside them. This one wants more. When a young family crosses the state line into a new life, five-year-old Gregory Brodeur hears something no one else can: a whisper from nowhere, cold and deliberate. "She's in the corner." It is a phrase that has echoed across decades and oceans, from the shadowed hull of a freighter fleeing Mussolini's Sicily to a quiet Cape Cod house on a dead-end street in New Jersey. Gregory doesn't know it yet, but the voice has been waiting for him. As Gregory grows from a sensitive boy into a troubled adolescent, the dark history of 9 New England Place begins to surface. Strange visions. Yellow jacket wasps that appear and vanish. And a presence that has stalked his family for generations, dating back to his great-grandmother Sofia's terrifying escape from Palermo in 1926, when she locked eyes with something wearing a human face but carrying pure evil behind its black, lifeless stare. Whatever followed Sofia across the Atlantic has never stopped hunting. Spanning from the 1960s to the early 1980s, Closet Space is a slow-burning, atmospheric horror novel that weaves family secrets, generational trauma, and supernatural dread into an unforgettable underdog story. Gregory is beginning to understand the truth about his home, his bloodline, and the thing that lives in the dark corners of both. But understanding may not be enough to survive it. When the whispers grow louder, where do you run if the evil is already inside your walls?
