Paris, 1940: As German soldiers march down the Champs-Élysées, Sophie Bélanger grips her medical textbook tighter, knowing her world is about to shatter.
While her recently widowed twin sister Adèle dances with the enemy in the glittering nightclubs of occupied Paris, Sophie throws herself into endless shifts at the American hospital, trying to forget her fiancé's silence from the front lines.
But when Sophie discovers Jewish families are being hunted and their children left defenceless against Nazi persecution, she cannot stand by – innocent lives hang in the balance.
As the Nazi grip on Paris tightens, Sophie plays an increasingly deadly game of cat and mouse with the Gestapo. One false move, one whispered betrayal, could destroy everything – and everyone – she's fighting to protect.
A heart-wrenching tale of courage and sacrifice in humanity's darkest hour. Perfect for fans of Kate Quinn and Kristin Hannah.
