Book I: Embers Beneath a Broken God is a dark reimagining of the author's original series, The Crystal Fox Saga, recast as the opening volume of The Ashfall Requiem Trilogy, a grim epic fantasy about broken gods, wounded heroes, and the terrible cost of restoring a shattered world.
The world is dying by inches.
Crops fail beneath sickened skies. Shrines crumble in forgotten villages. Beasts twist into corrupted things, cities drown in fear, and the ancient powers that once held the realms in balance have faded into rumor. In the starving village of Halewick, Kaelen expects nothing more from life than hard labor, silence, and survival.
Then the blue fox comes.
Appearing first in dreams and then in waking flame, the fox carries the fractured voice of Serenya, an imprisoned guardian from an age before the world broke. Through her, Kaelen learns of the Eclipsera Stone, once the heart of balance between realms, now shattered by Avarith, the Obsidian Lord: a fallen knight of light who chose control over mercy and transformed protection into dominion.
When Kaelen is branded by the Fox Flame, his life is torn away from him. Marked by blue-white scars and unstable power, he is forced from home and thrown onto a road of ash, ruin, and ancient war.
But he will not walk it alone.
At his side gather others as damaged as the world they are trying to save: Lysera, a failed healer whose earth-root magic mends only through force; Darek, a thief who survives by lies until loyalty becomes the one truth he cannot escape; Kaelorin, a blind scholar who reads the wounds of broken heavens; and Ravyn, the last war-leader of shattered steppe clans.
Together, they must face the Dragon Generals, monstrous shard-bearers bound to Avarith's will, each carrying a fragment of the broken Stone inside their armored bodies. To kill them is to reclaim what was stolen.
But every victory comes poisoned.
Each shard freed weakens Avarith while further destabilizing the world, unleashing storms, corruption, and fractures that reality itself may not survive.
From the furnace-city of the Forge to the drowning streets of Veyra's Reach, from the dead archives of Kalvasar to the Glass Dunes and the war-haunted Shattered Steppe, Kaelen and his companions learn that heroism is not clean, destiny is not merciful, and saving a broken world may require becoming dangerous enough to wound it first.
Three Dragon Generals will fall.
Three shards will be reclaimed.
And beyond the ruin, Avarith will finally look back.
Embers Beneath a Broken God is a dark epic fantasy of grief, fire, friendship, sacrifice, and mythic war, perfect for readers who enjoy morally complex heroes, ancient gods, brutal magic, found-family war bands, and worlds where victory never comes without blood.
