About

We all know that meditation helps to lower stress and can even prevent disease. It has no negative side effects and no cost, and requires only a few minutes a day. So why is it so challenging to begin and sustain? Tobin Blake offers innovative ways to start meditating and to invigorate an existing practice. He begins with the basics: how to sit, how long to practice, and how to use various techniques, such as zazen, mantra, and visualization; and then covers topics such as dealing with thoughts, restlessness, and overcoming the deeper obstacles to meditation. Written with our modern challenges in mind, including electronic distractions, stress, and the constant sense of overwhelm, - Everyday Meditation - will help you: make your mind an ally; undo restlessness and anxiety; build spiritual relationships; heal your body; overcome depression and anxiety; find balance, meaning, and life purpose. Tobin Blake offers innovative ways to start meditating and to invigorate an existing practice. He begins with the basics - how and how long to sit, and how to use various techniques, such as zazen, mantra, and visualization.
Tobin Blake received his formal training in meditation and Kriya Yoga through Self-Realization Fellowship, an international organization with more than five hundred meditation centers in over fifty countries that was founded by the great Paramahansa Yogananda. He has studied many forms of meditation and has been practicing for more than twenty years. Tobin is also a longtime student of A Course in Miracles, a profound system of spiritual mind training that has had an impact on many thousands of people worldwide.

Tobin's short stories, nonfiction, and poetry has appeared in a number of publications, including Surfer magazine, and several anthologies.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, he resides in Bend, Oregon, a varied land of rivers, temperate rain forests, and frosted mountain peaks just off the eastern shoulder of the Cascade Mountains. He has two daughters. "This lovely book is a quiet encouragement to the deep peace and healing that meditation brings. It is what each of us - and the whole world - needs now; and the loving spirit in which it is written is, clearly, a gift of meditation. Read it and feel joy; practice it and be transformed."
