We are all made of fragments... the memories we carry, the people we've loved, the losses we've endured, and the moments that reshape who we become.
In Fragments, the eighteenth annual collection from the Florida Writers Association, writers explore the pieces that make up a life and what happens when those pieces are broken, scattered, rediscovered, or transformed.
Across creative nonfiction, fiction, flash fiction, and poetry, these pages move through love and loss, hope and heartbreak, humor and tragedy.
A frozen garden reveals the persistence of life. A veteran's journey toward the Liberty Bell becomes a reckoning with the broken pieces of the past. Grief takes shape in memories and unexpected messages, while other stories carry readers into surreal landscapes, dystopian worlds, intimate relationships, and moments of delightful absurdity.
Featuring work from both adult and NextGen writers, Fragments brings together distinct voices and perspectives around one powerful truth: what is broken is not necessarily lost. Sometimes the pieces we carry are precisely what shape us into something new.
Poignant, imaginative, surprising, and deeply human, Fragments invites readers to discover pieces of themselves within its pages and perhaps see wholeness in a new way.
