Hurry up, God, you're late! Our lives scream with need, but the Lord often appears tardy. Why is God's timing so out of sync with our timing?
In God's Good Time: Navigating the Hard, Slow Seasons of Life investigates the relationship between time and faith, coaching us on ways to cooperate with God's "march of days" rather than complain and rebel. Such a pilgrimage is filled with much mystery, but also a steady awareness, over time, that God is working, nevertheless.
God's pace and rhythm can be maddening, but in due course, it proves to be a healthier, saner tempo. Rather than constantly taking matters into our own hands, we learn the delicate interplay between our response-ability and God's almighty sway. Such a dance is more art and nuance than definition and precision, but advances life as we yield to the cadence of a resourceful, imaginative Creator. The result is a rising realization of being gripped by something immensely promising in Jesus, and a lessening sense of being defeated by disappointment, loss, and suffering.
Overall, we keep moving, no matter the quandary, because God is moving, bringing about resurrection and new creation in Christ-in his good time!
