People go to court for one of two reasons: justice or revenge. This isn't about justice.
That nasty divorce lawyer, Andrew Bierce, K.C., is back. Has he changed his ways? Abandoned his "Total War" approach after that deadly courtroom nightmare? Not a chance. Still skilled. Still ruthless. And worse-now he's got a grudge. As he struggles to rebuild his practice after his suspension by the Law Society for misconduct with clients, Bierce takes on a high-stakes case that draws him into a spiteful conflict with judges, lawyers and even his own staff. His relentless pursuit of revenge against those who have wronged him threatens to throw open the gates of hell. A court clerk claims she was sexually assaulted by a judge, but pursuing the allegations threatens to blow up her marriage-to another judge. A vicious custody battle over twins takes a bizarre twist when Bierce's impassioned courtroom plea has shocking unintended consequences. A famous Canadian country singer comes to Bierce with enough marital trouble for a double album of hurtin' songs, and secrets of his own. The threatened defrocking of Bierce's brother, Toronto's worst priest, puts him at war with the Catholic Church and crossing swords with old foes. Throw in being dragged into a political trap, and the return of a devil from his past, and Bierce is headed for a personal and professional inferno. Will he charge through the gates of hell? If he is to have his revenge, will he have a choice? Or is justice a dish best served cold?
