In this ground-breaking memoir of his 12 year imprisonment in Ohio prisons, former Cleveland attorney, Bill Hamann, takes us on an intimate journey through four Ohio prisons. A compilation of short essays, written in real time, ushers the reader through a complex insular prison society that few people can access or understand. Heartaches, laughter, loss, regret, treachery, injury, death, punishment, critique, and ultimate freedom reveal a roller coaster ride of conflicting actions and reactions. In the end, Hamann, proposes an ambitious plan to end what he describes as "the insanity of a broken prison system." Inside Out is a must read for anyone interested in the reality of "criminal justice" in America's prisons.
