Israel: A Biblical Perspective begins by defining who Israel is, tracing its origins back to the patriarch Abraham and the formation of the Twelve Tribes. These tribes, descended from Jacob (whose name was changed to Israel), each inherited territory in the Promised Land under a divine covenant. The concept of "Spiritual Israel" is introduced as a broader spiritual lineage, suggesting that membership extends beyond physical descent to those who embrace the faith. The discussion then shifts to the Land of Palestine, highlighting its historical significance and the diverse communities that have inhabited it over the centuries. The book addresses the modern Palestinian struggle, examining its roots and eventual resolution within a biblical-historical framework.
In exploring "Citizenship of Spiritual Israel," the text emphasizes that anyone can be grafted into this spiritual commonwealth through belief and adherence to biblical principles. Delving into Abraham's broader family, the book describes the Twelve Tribes of Ishmael, underscoring the parallel blessing God bestowed on Ishmael's descendants. Returning to Jacob's lineage, the text details the Twelve Tribes of Israel, each with distinct characteristics and roles in biblical narratives. The Land of Israel's history is then recounted, from the divine promise and the Exodus out of Egypt to Joshua's conquest and the era of the Judges, Kings and Prophets.
The narrative moves forward to the life of Jesus, the birth of early Christianity, and the widespread Jewish Diaspora that followed. It then outlines significant medieval developments and chronicles the rise of the modern Zionist movement, culminating in the creation of the State of Israel. The major festivals of Israel are presented as foundational observances that celebrate deliverance, covenant, repentance, and divine provision. Shifting to geography, the book explores eight prominent biblical mountains
Overall, Israel: A Biblical Perspective weaves together historical, geographical, and theological insights to present a comprehensive understanding of Israel's biblical legacy, its people, and their enduring spiritual narrative.
