Let Me Teach seeks to simplify the counseling process by providing basic steps and counseling techniques for the most commonly seen disease states and medication classes to provide a consistent structure and framework to improve clinical communication. Patients who know more about their medications are healthier, more adherent, and more satisfied with their care. With this guide, you can use counseling to improve care. The book also provides simple-to-remember mnemonic devices to ease the cognitive burden on the individual providers. Additionally, by providing a structured and repeatable framework, patient retention of information should also improve with repeated use (and thereby, ideally, improve patient care). KEY FEATURES:
Grounded in the Let Me Teach model – each chapter contains:
• lifestyle counseling, medication counseling, and the teach back technique for more than 50 of the most commonly prescribed medication classes. • medication monographs providing key information on MEDDS information – Medication name, Expectations, Dosing, Duration, and Side effects • easy-to-recall mnemonics regarding the warnings and precautions of the medication classes
