Murder in Mylapore
Step into the vibrant streets of Mylapore, Chennai, where tradition, wealth, family honor, and deadly secrets collide in this gripping murder mystery by Neetha Raman.
On the morning of his 75th birthday, powerful jewelry magnate Shanmugasundaram is found dead in his bedroom at the family estate known as The Bangala. What first appears to be a tragic death soon unravels into something far more sinister. Behind the polished image of one of Chennai's most respected families lies a tangled web of betrayal, greed, hidden affairs, family pressure, financial deception, and long-buried secrets.
As relatives gather under one roof for the grand birthday celebration, every member of the influential family becomes a suspect. The eldest son struggles under crushing expectations and dangerous addictions. Another son hides a scandal that could destroy his reputation abroad. A daughter secretly risks disinheritance for forbidden love. Another family member conceals a life-altering truth. Meanwhile, servants whisper in corridors, old wounds reopen, and the carefully maintained façade of respectability begins to crack.
Led by Deputy Commissioner Narendran and his investigative team, the case peels back layer after layer of family dysfunction, exposing the emotional cost of ambition, patriarchy, social status, and generational expectations in modern India.
Richly atmospheric and deeply character-driven, Murder in Mylapore blends classic whodunit storytelling with contemporary social commentary, transporting readers into a world of sprawling family homes, South Indian traditions, hidden motives, and psychological tension.
