About

CSI meets Jacques CousteauIn this eco-mystery we follow Archibald, 'Archie', Quincy Hill, Ph.D., an idealistic and dedicated forensic marine scientist working for the United Nations Environment Program. His job is to determine the cause of local environmental problems before they become global disasters. While he strives to maintain scientific objectivity, he is driven by his lifelong love of the sea, a gift from his mother. In this book, Archie heads to Antarctica to uncover the cause of a mass die-off of seabirds, seals and whales in the Southern Ocean. To solve this mystery, he must travel around the world collecting evidence and evading the powerful forces that will stop at nothing to prevent him from finishing his work. What he learns during his trek is far worse than he imagined. Darren Rumbold holds a Ph.D. from University of Miami and is an Emeritus Professor of Marine and Earth Science at Florida Gulf Coast University. He has taught about climate change in various courses over many years. He has authored or co-authored nonfiction books and over 75 scientific reports and papers dealing with various environmental problems published in peer-reviewed journals. He now strives to tell stories with compelling characters and plots, grounded in solid science, about the environmental challenges facing humanity. Darren splits his time between his house in Southwest Florida and cabin in the Northwoods of Maine. Thank you for reading Trek Across a Changed Land.
