B.T. and Mary Jones loved adventure more than anyone. In On the Amazon, their grandson brings their travels to life in order to inspire children to read and explore our wondrous world.
Through detailed journaling by Grandma Jones, children are led on an exciting adventure to the Amazon Rainforest in 1974 as she and her husband travel by small plane, bus, motorboat, and finally canoe to reach their destination. While on the way, Grandma Jones shares the thrilling tale of how they rescued two people from their sinking canoe, and then almost found themselves in the river when their own canoe started taking on water. But as little ones are about to discover, their adventures are only just beginning! Grandma Jones’s fascinating stories continue as they meet the Yagua Indians, learn to use a blowgun, and hunt crocodiles at night in a dugout canoe. Now only one question remains: where will they go next?
On the Amazon details the adventures of two avid travelers as they explore the Amazon and look forward to their next journey into the unknown.
