In Over The Hill To Valhalla by Terrence Griffiths, a richly woven narrative unfolds, blending historical echoes with fantastical destiny. Born amidst a supernatural storm in a military base in Northern Germany, Christian's life is marked by the enigmatic presence of Toren, a raven destined to guard him. Raised by Kathleen and David in post-war Swansea, his early years are shadowed by loss-his mother's secret love, the death of his dog Blackie, and David's descent into crime. As a young man, Christian's fascination with Viking history leads him to join the British Army, where he survives a brutal battle in Afghanistan, only to find his true calling in Denmark. There, he meets Frejdis, an astronomer, and together they are transported to the planet Valhalla through a mystical portal. Guided by Queen Brynhilde, Christian embraces his role as the chosen one, leading a defense against the humanoid forces of Mestos from Daria. With his army friends and newfound strength, he secures Valhalla, marries Frejdis, and sets the stage for future adventures across time and universes. This debut novel in a series explores themes of identity, love, and the eternal struggle between good and evil, rooted in the author's own military background and personal crossroads.
