Every kid loves Santa, but what if Jolly Old Saint Nick ended up in the wrong hood after he's hijacked by the one kid who doesn't? Project Humbug is an action-packed holiday thrill ride from the North Pole to the unlikeliest inner-city neighborhood you would ever expect to host a Christmas miracle. Every day, Amari rides three buses from the projects into the rich suburbs to attend private school. In class, he's bullied by spoiled kids from neighborhoods where Christmas looks like a movie. They have perfect lights, perfect decorations, and perfect families. But where Amari is from, lights are dimmer. Potholes are bigger. And no matter how hard he tries to be good, Santa never delivers. Year after year, the message is clear: Christmas isn't for kids like him. When a wealthy bully pushes him too far, Amari's quiet anger explodes. On Christmas Eve, fueled by anger and pain, he does the unthinkable and shoots Santa's sleigh out of the sky. What begins as a moment of rage becomes a colorful holiday odyssey, the likes of which we've never seen. As the North Pole scrambles to save Christmas, Amari sees an opportunity no one ever imagined. If Santa won't bring Christmas to kids like him, then he'll do it himself. He hijacks Santa's sleigh in a massive blizzard to deliver gifts to his housing projects. The same ones Santa always seems to skip. As chaos spreads, a wild band of misfits descends, determined to find the boy who shot down Santa. Amari must process his anger to survive the night and uncover the real meaning of Christmas. On his wild adventure, Amari makes surprising new friends and shocking discoveries that turn his world upside down. Ultimately, he learns the holidays aren't about bemoaning material possessions he doesn't have, but cherishing the present and the meaningful relationships he does. Project Humbug is a disruptive fable for everyone not invited to play in any reindeer games. Because for some of us, Christmas isn't about being naughty or nice. It's about finally being seen.
