These are among the most fundamental questions pondered by man. We may be told that we become what we do in life. The simplicity and apparent clarity of this sentiment make it appealing. But what if the currents of the streams of being and doing run in conflict rather than in tandem? And how much does necessity interfere with ones search for being? In light of many of todays problems and questions, it is evident that no simple formula will serve as a complete solution.
If one cannot go as far as discovering true being just yet, one can approach nearer to an answer by investigating the concept of becoming, the origins of being. The four essays of this work explore the nature of the problem of individual being, the unique obstacles to its realization, the phenomenon of self-priming and cultural creation, and the related challenges with which we are faced today.
