About
A shift of universal proportions: how one of South Carolina's most prominent names in athletics found his true self and transformed his life.
Thanks to an insatiable drive for his passions, Marcus Lattimore became one of South Carolina's more revered athletes at a young age. Before entering college, he had been recognized as:
• ESPN RISE National High School Junior Football Player of the Year.
• USA Today high school All-American honors.
• South Carolina's Mr. Football.
• Part of the 2010 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
During his freshman year at the University of South Carolina, his performance earned him All-American honors. Despite knee injuries that kept him off the field during his sophomore and junior years, his reputation spoke for itself, and he opted to sign with the San Francisco 49ers rather than play his final year of college football.
Life within these walls of athletic fame wasn't all that had been promised, though, and Marcus faced unexpected adversities that derailed his future as a professional football player. On the night of his most significant honor, his true self was revealed.
In this confiding personal memoir, readers get a never-before-seen look at the transformation that occurred within Marcus that took him from a glittering athlete to a fully realized person who found meaning and fulfillment in his life outside of fame.
Written as a narrative and sprinkled with personal poems, Scream My Name is a can't-miss read for football fans, poetry fanatics, and any reader who wants to understand the power of admitting you're lost so you can begin to find your way.
