This is a military sci-fi novel. It's about a crew whose mission was to be declared traitors to infiltrate an enemy base and destroy it. After completing their mission, they have been traveling for years through hostile territory trying to go back to Earth and be with their children and parents. This trip home is hampered by having to travel though the Basin of Lost Souls, fighting the remnants of the enemy and having the assistance of the Imperial Navy forced upon them.
