Shaw is also a world explorer and adventurer who has helped research primitive peoples in Africa and South America as part of his passion for cultural anthropology. For his work he was given a fellowship in the prestigious Explorer's Club. Shaw moved back to his hometown of Spokane, Washington in the early 1980's where he has served as the longest running TV News Anchorman in local broadcast history with more than 15 thousand newscasts.
