The head assassin to the queen of the feldavi, Vemzadh, gets the job done better than anyone. Hated and feared by all, he silently suffers, and wishes, for freedom. While he cannot withstand the sun and loathes people, they're his pawns to win his own chess game. Now he's in need of a new knight, one that'll keep him safe in the daylight.
Surprisingly, a human is given to be his new slave: Donna. Life has struck her every chance it got, and now she's been served for the slaughter. Her only chance to live is to keep her smart mouth shut.
