Saddle Ridge hid a dark secret for a hundred years. It's the home of a mysterious cult called the Order of Souls. For seventy years, their activities were so private its members were unknown. Then the traditional practice of infant sacrifice on a bloody altar was witnessed by someone outside the cult. A quiet, shunned girl named Abby threatened their existence and exposure.
Her penalty: death in the Bottomless Pit. Thirty years later, Dani has a tragic accident while riding her favorite horse. Her fatal accident mysteriously links her and Abby. What dark mystery carries her across the chasm between life and death? What do she and Abby share that binds their souls through three decades of time and space?
In these windswept hills that overlook carpeted, plunging valleys, Dani learns who Abby really is…and much more. Scorned and mocked by the local children in Saddle Ridge, Dani readily accepts this strange relationship, unaware that Abby is the one who created the chaos with the Order of Souls. Dani is also unaware that she is Abby's vessel for the revenge Abby promised. But those children of thirty years ago are now adults. Killing them would not bring her the pleasure it did them when she died. But Abby still has a thread of humanity about her and decrees that she will spare them if they do one thing-confess their ugly secret that has haunted the town for a hundred years. When they adamantly refuse, the horror begins.
Who will die next in this troubled town? How many more must pay the price for the iniquity of a dangerous cult? Dani and Abby join forces to fight the evil that leaves Saddle Ridge in the grip of horror. Dani's family, her friends, and the whole town watch as she goes head to head with the worst kind of evil. Don't let the Bottomless Pit catch you with your guard down. Keep your shields up from the opening paragraph to the last word, lest you become the Pit's next victim.
