Pirates. Smugglers. Jungle borders. Storm-torn seas. Lost islands. In the late 1970s, long before smartphones and social media, Andy Leemann set out on a one-year journey through Southeast Asia in search of freedom, adventure, and the unknown. What followed was a raw and unforgettable odyssey through pirate waters, remote jungles, hidden islands, dangerous border crossings, and the fading edges of a world few travelers ever truly knew. The Edge Was Always Calling is more than a travel memoir - it is a gripping true story of risk, survival, friendship, and self-discovery told with unflinching honesty and vivid detail. For readers who crave real adventure and stories from a time when the world was still wild, this is a journey into the heart of the unknown.
A powerful memoir of freedom, danger, and the restless pursuit of life beyond the ordinary.
