We talk about Jesus, being our "friend," but do we really, believe it? Is our personal prayer ever as casual and intimate as enjoying a cup of coffee with our friend?
Saint Ignatius of Loyola, however, believed that God invites all of us into a mutual friendship. Picking up where most books on the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises leave off, spiritual director Tom Elliott guides us toward accepting God's invitation to mutuality. To accept God's invitation means to understand ourselves, God, and personal, prayer in a new way.
The Intimacy You Desire offers Ignatius' insights into how mutuality and intimacy can be, experienced and developed, and it provides striking examples and practical steps for developing that relationship and our personal prayer time. The chapters outline a process of redefining personal prayer in relational terms, thereby deepening one's relationship with God and with others. Anyone interested in Ignatian spirituality and growing closer to God will find this book a rich source of blessings.
