About
What will be the America my child will experience when they become an adult? This novel provides a glimpse into
America's near future–2050.
Joshua, a computer major at the University of Georgia, is handed an old magazine, dated Dec. 7, 1969, by his grandpa. Joshua knows this paper-printed document was outlawed by the Timber Protection Act of 2036. Trees no longer need to be destroyed to make paper-printed documents, as these documents are easily replaced and readily available in digital format on the internet. But Joshua notices that some things in the magazine do not agree with what he has been taught about his country and the world. Joshua tries to forget these differences, but he can't. Trying to resolve these mysterious differences leads Joshua down an investigation rabbit hole where he discovers more issues that he cannot explain or understand. During his search for answers, he realizes he must hide his investigation activities and his digital footprint. This requires him to develop ways to hide his identity and his location. As Joshua seeks the truth, he, his friends, and others, are led to a startling ending.
"THE MAGAZINE is a powerful cautionary tale about America in the year 2050. Move over Orwell, Bradbury, and Huxley; there's a new dystopian sheriff in town. His message is urgent and very timely." Robert Rivenbark, #1 best-selling author of THE CLOUD.
