Eighteen years ago, a ritual was performed under moonlight. Two lives were bound. One truth was buried. And a spiral was sealed. Sedona has always known something about her life doesn't quite add up-her dreams are too vivid, her instincts too sharp, and the pull toward the mountains feels older than memory. When strange symbols begin appearing on her skin and magic answers her voice, it becomes clear she was never meant to walk this path alone. Miles away, Stella feels the same hum beneath her ribs. Drawn to a small Appalachian town steeped in folklore and quiet secrets, she begins to unravel a past she was never told-a past tied to firelight, whispered names, and a girl who looks exactly like her. As ancient protections weaken and the spiral begins to open, the truth surfaces: some bonds cannot be broken-only hidden. And what was once severed may demand to be restored. The Severing is a slow‑burn contemporary fantasy about twin souls, inherited magic, and the cost of keeping the truth buried. Rooted in Appalachian folklore and told through intertwined destinies, it is the first book in The Spiral Between series-where magic remembers what people are taught to forget.
