Brilliant and pioneering women in these generations sacrificed, endured, and overcame monumental problems. They took a risk-millions entered the labor force and colleges to compete in hostile, male working environments.
The results were beyond wildest imaginations. Astonishingly, in less than 2 generations American women succeeded-they overtook American men in their accomplishments. Today 60% of American women are graduating with college degrees versus 40% of American men. More women are employed today than men, and women are more financially savvy than men, especially younger women. The author was also, a product of this historic time, and was, working as a female, structural engineer in an all-male profession. She survived, succeeded, and made many contributions.
