Many people seek to control what is out of their control. In the spiritual life, this leads to a hunger for God's wrath to set things "right" and even, perhaps, to bring about the end of the world. I have met worried, religious people who are convinced that the end of the world is very soon because THEIR PATIENCE is wearing thin. Shouldn't God be acting by now!Well, God is not weak like us. There is a long range plan in place that is beyond our ability to know. However, using simple, common sense theology we can reason to the fact that God would want to be as merciful to as many as He can possibly be...to save as many as He can possibly save. Boyd has experienced many unusual things. He grew up in a very large and turbulent family. His mom went blind when he was a child. His father was a battered war veteran who worked as a drill instructor in the Marines--running his family like a boot camp.at times. Having learned to cook for his family, Boyd grew up to manage restaurants. But, then went down a path of drug abuse and addiction. Finally, after turning to God for help, he overcame drug addiction and joined a Catholic monastery for 5 years. Later he left the Benedictines and got a job in a shipyard.
