Mariam Najjar had a dream, but it turned into a nightmare. As the world descended further into climate chaos and political polarization, Mariam and her Lamplighters struggled to preserve their faith as the oppressive agency SMOKE teamed up with a doomsday cult to destroy everything Mariam had worked for. Could a body of inspiring stories, practices, and imaginal insights truly provide a cultural foundation for deep renewal and regeneration? Or was it all for naught? And what about the traitor Mariam senses but cannot identify? In this climactic novel of the Lamplighter Trilogy, narrator Kay Bormanus tells the story of Lamplight's fight to preserve itself in the face of attacks from several quarters and the threat of a hidden superweapon. As Kay documents these events, he is forced to rely on a series of relationships to teach him about himself--and about the true nature of the Dreamvale and its imaginal allies, including the Powers.
