Oluronbi and the Sacred Tree

Olurombi longs for a child and makes a careless promise to Aroko, the wise guardian of an ancient Iroko tree. When her beloved daughter, Adunbi, is born, Olurombi realizes that no promise should take away another person's freedom. With courage, honesty and the support of her husband, Bayo, she must face her mistake and seek a wiser solution.Together, the family and their community create a meaningful gift that celebrates childhood, learning and freedom. Their journey leads to the Promise Garden, where children gather to read, create, grow food and learn that words must be chosen carefully.
