The decline of Jacquelin's business after the 2006 2007 recession, prompted her to seek refuge at her parent's dwelling in 2010. They agreed and assisted her to move in. Instead of helping Jacquelin to reestablish independence, her parents grew hostile against her and, with the help of close relatives, ousted her without money or food with the instruction not to return. After eleven years, Jacquelin and her parents reunite. Within a year, Jacquelin's father died, and her mother and aunts begged her to return to the house. Instead of being grateful, Jacquelin's mother saw it as an opportunity to continue what she had started with the aid of an opportunist Jacquelin's mother introduced in the household under false pretence. She renewed her hostility against Jacquelin while the young man acted as an instigant, deliberately doing things to stir conflict between mother and daughter, hoping Jacquelin would get evicted, leaving him with her mother, giving him a better chance of gaining control of the estate.
