The Massachusetts Bay Colony was an English settlement that covered much of central New England, including portions of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut. These records include testimonies, depositions, writs, warrants, bonds and divorce petitions. The Court of Assistants was a predecessor of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and heard criminal cases, divorces and some civil cases and appeals.
