About

Dad and Mom both grew up in New Brunswick, Canada. Dad, however, was born on a kitchen table in Skowhegan, Maine. Birthright citizenship. Shortly after marrying, Dad and Mom moved to the United States to open a business together and raise a family. I am their third daughter-two older sisters and a younger brother. Birth order matters.

Some of the Parts, my first book, is a narrative of my life, early arrival to adulthood. Not everything. Some words, thoughts, people, places, experiences, exchanges that are stuck in my head. The stuff of life. Big and small, from managing chronic overthinking to finding clean underwear, from figuring out family and friendships to selling sofa beds, from embracing teen pregnancy to needing a double cheeseburger, from finishing college to stealing a floor lamp, from finding love to baiting a hook with squid guts.

I could tell my story many ways. This is one of them.
