First Peter is written to a group of people in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey) who are living as strangers and exiles within their cultural context. They are described as the new family of God who become the dwelling place of God. As such, their lives are to be marked by holiness that is visible to the world around them and demonstrated in very practical ways.
