This book expands the field of Text-Driven Sermon study by demonstrating the necessity of understanding and communicating the passion of every pericope of the text of Scripture. While many books on expositional preaching focus on the logos of the text, the pathos of the text tends to be neglected. Vines demonstrates that priority must be given to the pathos of the text itself. Not only does Vines demonstrate the necessity of understanding and communicating the pathos of the preacher's text, but he also shows the reader how to accomplish the task by walking us through the process in his own study of the book of Jude.
