Seventeen year old Jerald Doley, a.k.a. J.D., enjoys a pleasurable and carefree lifestyle of a true hustler: he has the girls, the money, the drugs, the car, and the material things that any young man his age would dream of having. However, Jerald's life in luxury ends as the result of a carefully calculated drug bust. Being a second time drug offender, Jerald has no chance of escaping the harsh penalty of such a crime. With a judge who has no tolerance for repetitive drug offenses and a knack for laying down the law as well as an amateur public defender who does not have Jerald's best interest at heart, J. D. is destined for doom. Despite Jerald's age and his plea for mercy, Judge Steinback sentences him to Trenton State Prison for eight years with an eighty-five percent prison term. Jerald's adolescent life ended and his journey into manhood quickly began as things take a turn for the worst while doing Time in the Inside. "Time in the Inside is a moving and intriguing novel. Jerald's story is a great example of how one choice could change your life forever, for better or for worse. He is relatable and many can learn from his experiences."
