About

The award-winning, Show Me Science series, is an excellent in-class, library or home schooling tool for introducing the wonders of science. Each title uses incredible visuals to help build a solid understanding of the scientific discipline behind the topic. The programs show everyday real–life application of the subject and how we are all affected by advancements in science and technology, often in ways we never realize. Show Me Science covers oceanography, animal life, astronomy, biology, chemistry, health science, earth science, technology, environmental sciences, physics and more. The Wonders of Oceanography series covers subjects from Coral Reefs, Sharks, Manatee's, Endangered Species, studying Dolphins to the Ocean tides. Produced in cooperation with an advisory board of top educators, curriculum specialists and administrators. Each progarm comes complete with an online teachers guide which includes subject matter revision and suggestions on how to present material, questions to ask students, career possibilities and class projects to help illustrate the key concepts.

According to ABET, or the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology: "Engineering is the profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences, gained by study, experience, and practice, is applied with judgment to develop ways to utilize, economically, the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of humankind." There is considerable overlap between science and engineering. Research teams often consist of one or more engineers who work closely with scientists to design and build some of the tools required for lab experiments or to test theories in practice. Engineers are motivated to improve our quality of life; here are some examples: making renewable energy economical, improving health informatics, making better medicines, improving automobile safety, and improving urban infrastructure. Engineers typically develop new products using several steps – Design phase, testing, production and maintenance. During the design phase, engineers specify the functional requirements; design and test the components; produce a prototype; and evaluate the overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety. This process is common in the development of many different products such as chemicals, computers, energy sources, and transportation. During testing, production and maintenance, engineers determine if any failures of the components are likely and where they occur. This is where they estimate the time and cost required to produce a product. In these processes, engineers use computers to create designs, analyze functionality, and simulate how a machine, structure, or system operates.

Automobiles have evolved in many ways over the years, with increasing fuel economy, reliability, handling, and comfort. However, automobile manufacturing is in a new era, focusing on safety while incorporating impressive new technologies into our transportation needs. With a growing population, there are subsequently more people driving and more automobiles on the road. With more congestion and traffic, the likelihood of accidents seems imminent. Automobile engineers are reacting by making our transportation options safer with extensive crash tests, monitoring cameras and accident avoidance systems.

Advanced digital technology using 3D-terrain maps, laser pantographs, digital photographs and satellite data is increasing our visual understanding of architectural structures of bygone eras. The multi-faceted world of digital archaeology aids researchers by supporting data management and by making visual presentations more realistic. The ancient city of Troy is re-discovered in this engaging program that fuses complex technology to uncover the past without damaging the local ecosystem.
